One of our new patients in unit 2 is cognitive and can talk. He is highly anxious and can be overstimulated in that environment. Nicole continually takes the time to talk her patient through his care so he is comfortable and confident in her. A significant example of the trust she builds with these patients is how she talks to him about the upcoming fall carnival. He talked to her about how he was so excited to go! Nicole reassured him after he fell asleep for the night, she would see him the next night after the carnival, and he could tell her all about it. Needless to say, Nicole kept her word, and talked to him about how much fun he had at the carnival! Nicole demonstrates many qualities we expect our nurses to uphold here at BCHC. I always see her caring for her patients with compassion and confidence and adjusting the care she gives so they can build trust with her.
