Working as a team in Same Day Surgery, I had an experience that exhibited exceptional Nursing care. I feel Nicole Ladouceur, Same day Surgery, provided exceptional service to the patient and her co-worker. On this particular day, my post-op assignment involved teaching and discharging a surgical patient with a history of Bipolar Disorder. I felt this patient was very demanding, condescending, and just plain painful to be around. I could do nothing right in her eyes but was spending so much time with her. All I could do was listen to her, I was getting so frustrated, I had little verbal contact or I was afraid I would say something inappropriate or nasty. One of my co-workers, Nicole sensed my frustration and immediately stepped in to take care of the patient. They had an immediate rapport, communication, listening, and teaching. Nicole took over caring for my patient. Nicole went out of her way to find a resident to write a prescription for Xanax for her. She and Nicole just hit it off so well; the patient went home happy and satisfied. I was ever so grateful for Nicole who read my mind and found me in need. She came to my rescue without being asked. Sometimes you find a co-worker that you work so well with, and I have found mine, Nicole Ladouceur!
