The Emergency Department Nursing team has dramatically improved the overall Percentage in Press Ganey for Emergency Nursing Care Provided, from the 8th percentile in Quarter 4, 2019, to the 99th percentile in Quarter 4, 2020. Ranking them at # 1 in the state. This increase occurred during the onset and continuation of the COVID-19 Pandemic, a very stressful time for everyone. This remarkable increase validates the dedicated, caring, and compassionate team. The team is led by Kristine Conroy, Department Director along with champion charge nurses, Emily Virtudazo, Kristen Geideman, Candace Weldon, and Alla Khanin, working together to care for the community of Punta Gorda and Charlotte County Florida.
The COVID-19 pandemic created many challengesin health care, especially a nursing shortage, but our team of Emergency Department nurses work tirelessly to ensure that every patient receives the care they require to improve their health. With the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation was prohibited in the hospital, patients are alone and frightened, without the support and familiarity of their loved ones. This nursing team provides that extra comfort of "family" to ease the stress of their patients. This remarkable team is deserving of The DAISY Team Award for the dramatic improvement in nursing care as evidence by direct patient satisfaction scores. I am proud to call myself the Chief Nursing Officer of these professional nurses.
