There are daily stories about the coordinators' hard work and significant impact on the lives of our patients and their families. It would be an injustice to single one story out of many, but I felt this story needed to be highlighted.

A young woman with young children presented with a rapidly enlarging neck mass; she was apprehensive, and her family members were scared. She was robustly evaluated by the coordinator, who immediately facilitated evaluation by a physician, imaging studies, and biopsy. The coordinator team expedited the pathology report, and the results were available to us within less than 2-3 days of the initial encounter. The patient was able to start treatment in the hospital and returned home to spend more time with her children and the rest of her family. The expectation is to do the above but what amazed me is the human touch of the coordinator team and the continuous assurance and encouragement to the patient and her family that they will be taken care of. The patient laid down her fears and fought the Cancer until she was cured, God willing, with the help and support of the coordinator team, who injected courage and belief that they would beat the Cancer.

There is no discount to other members of the team, including oncology nurses and physicians, but I want to use this occasion to highlight the significant, daily, impactful contribution of the coordinator team to the lives of our patients. We could not do our job without them. Nominating this team for the DAISY Team Award is the least I could do to acknowledge their valuable contribution.
