It has taken me quite a while to write this and I do apologize to everyone concerned. I wanted to express my deep thanks to one great nurse within your organization, Oksana. We met so many nurses and other staff during my son's treatment that I forget the floor, but I will never forget the excellent nurses who cared for my son.
Oksana went above her duties as a nurse. She treated my son like he was her son and from a mother's standpoint, that was extremely comforting. So many things were happening at one time and I felt I could not let my motherly guard down and relax until Oksana came to take care of him. I watched how she tenderly treated him, how she spoke to him, and how she spoke about him to me with regard to his care. She seemed as concerned for his care as if he was actually her son. I could see my son trusted her and was comforted by her with each visit. She made it a point to call me with updates on his status when I had to be away. That in itself made me more at ease. When you have lost one child to Leukemia, it is very hard to trust anyone with the care of another child with the same disease.
Although my son had to have a Bone Marrow Transplant in the end, he is well over a year out and doing very well. He is off all his anti-rejection drugs and looking forward to his future in the medical profession. This is largely due to the excellent care he received from the doctors and nurses at OHSU.
I want to thank you for hiring Oksana. She is an amazing asset to your staff! Please extend my heartfelt thank you to her for her excellent care with my son. God bless her and the other nurses for doing what they do best every day.
