I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my nurse, Olena. She is without a doubt a very caring, compassionate, supportive nurse who uses a hands-on approach to help her patients. She intervened on my behalf when my doctor decided to discharge me, despite my many objections. I tried several times to explain to him that I was experiencing the same symptoms I did when my PICC line was infected. He dismissed my remarks and said I was fine. My Nurse Olena Frey saw how upset and distraught I was and tried to comfort me. She intervened on my behalf by contacting the infectious disease department to come and see me for a consult. Olena went above and beyond her line of duty to help me and to get to the truth in the matter. If my PICC line is infected, Olena saved me from becoming septic and getting severely ill.
