When my partner, J, was brought into the ICU, she was immediately intubated and could not speak. It was difficult for her to communicate, but Olivia came up with a way. She put an alphabet tablet together so J could point to letters. This way, she was able to communicate with her nurses and the team in the ICU when she couldn’t speak.

Olivia bonded with J from the get-go. She took the time, was patient, and had so much compassion for J. They were like two sisters working with one another. J never felt that Olivia was far away. If J was uncomfortable or needed someone to just hold her hand, Olivia was always there. Everybody was wonderful, but Olivia stood out. She took the time to understand what J needed and did her absolute best to make it happen.
