After such a heartbreaking situation, she gave us strength and support. She turned it into a memory that isn't dark but special.
Our beautiful little boy 'F' was born sleeping in January at 22+3. He was so perfect and tiny. I cannot describe how amazing our midwife Paige was, but I'll try. She was kind, caring, and down to earth, she gave us our private space but was always there at the right times when we needed her. She was calm and reassuring, even when I had collapsed. She made me smile at the right times and let me cry when I needed to. I had a traumatic birth with a couple of emergencies. However, on reflection when I speak about F's birth, that doesn't get mentioned and instead I say how amazing Paige was. I am a neonatal nurse and hope that I have the impact that she had on us and the babies and families I care for. Paige treated us with respect, she took her time to explain things and explain them again if I wasn't sure. Nothing was too much to ask and I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. Paige delivered F just before the end of her shift, so I know she left late. She then spent the next day on her shift with us and made sure that any memories we wanted had been made. Paige really deserves this award, after such a heartbreaking situation, she gave us strength and support. She turned it into a memory that isn't dark but special. I'm writing this whilst crying because it's all still raw, but I'm just so grateful that we were lucky enough for Paige to deliver our son.
