The palliative care team had the honor to consult with a recent case where the patient had 2 young daughters. The patient's spouse asked the palliative care team to talk to the girls about their mother and the fact she was very sick and likely not going to make it out of the hospital alive. Two nurses decided to take on the task and also wanted to take the moment to reflect on love, things unspoken while processing anticipatory grief. They quickly decided to take pictures of the family holding hands: each girl got a picture holding mom's hand, and one picture with the entire family. This precious moment was printed out, framed, and delivered to the family. Thank you to the palliative care team for doing work that continues to give those who will continue a grief journey to find how to continue to adjust to life without the person whom they deeply love. Excellent work capturing the essence of nursing!
