Pamela is an Extraordinary Nurse who is always trying to go above and beyond to make sure her patient's needs are met at the very best. Recently she had a patient who initially came in for an outpatient procedure but due to his high blood sugar, he couldn't get the procedure done and was admitted. While waiting to be admitted with his wife, his wife passed out and was taken to the ED. While caring for the patient in the unit, Pam came to know about his wife and what happened. She talked to the patient and the family members and found out that his wife had a stroke and was admitted into the ICU. They have been married for more than 3 decades and her patient was really missing his wife. Pam contacted the ICU and talked to the nurse who was caring for his wife and found that she was not doing very well. She felt it would be nice to have him spend some time with his wife since he was very anxious and depressed about the current situation.
Pam wheeled him to the ICU by herself and made arrangements with the ICU team to have him sit with his wife for a while. She made calls to the ICU to check with him and wheeled him back to his room after visiting for a while. Upon returning to the unit her patient appeared more comfortable and was very grateful to her for taking the time to wheel him to the ICU and letting him spend time with his wife. Unfortunately, the patient's wife passed away that night and the patient and his family members were so grateful to Pam for taking him to the ICU, so he could spend some time with her before she passed.
