I met Pam when I was moved from ICU. She could tell right away that I was in pain. She also knew I had a few low blood sugar incidences. While some of it was in my chart note, Pam seemed to show more compassion towards me and what I was going through. She made sure I had a snack nearby for the sugar lows and to prevent them from occurring. She was very kind and compassionate in the care she provided. She kept ahead of my pain and always responded when I hit the call light. She was quick with the care I needed.
One early morning I hit the call light as I was overcome by pain and nausea. Pam wasn't notified right away that I needed something. When she came in and found out I was in need, she was upset that she hadn't been notified. She stayed with me as she could see how uncomfortable I was. She was a true "angel" to me. She stayed until I was able to rest. She is in the right job. She is everything a nurse should be and more.
She deserves the DAISY award for her compassionate care. I have been in the hospital many times and never met anyone who showed such care and compassion for their patient. You have the best nurse on your staff that anyone could ever ask for. Thank you. Keep up the kind, compassionate care you gave me. I consider you a friend and if I should ever end up in the hospital again, you are who I want caring for me.
