Nina is an important part of the 12th floor. She is caring and compassionate towards her peers and patients alike. Nina supports her coworkers and is eager to help anyone in need. She is a preceptor and role model for new and existing staff. Nina often goes the extra mile to ensure the patients and families get the extra attention they need, while never sacrificing clinical excellence. Nina takes the time to know her patient's preferences and often offers them choices. One example stands out for me when I think of Nina. When doing a PRN follow-up on pain medications, the patient reported that they were better, but still had some discomfort. Nina sat next to the patient and reviewed non-pharmacological ways to reduce pain. She then helped the patient decide which would work best for them and helped them follow through so they were more comfortable.
