On the night of Oct. 19 Nurse Patrice Donald was doing a routine suction of my trach col. At this time my feeding tube was sucked into my mouth & blocking my throat. She showed great leadership and calmness!! She continued to work with me while she was able to figure out where the problem existed. I could not talk and it was hard to breath but she worked and got the necessary response team in place while being attentive to my actions and movements. It was through her attentiveness she was able to figure out the root cause while creating a back-up plan. Patrice also showed her knowledge in her field during a procedure involving the creation of an IV flow. Other nurses had spent an hour trying to fix an IV, she came in during her shift time and created (the IV) within 5 minutes. Ms. Donald is a true joy that has passion for her work & her patients. I am GLAD I had her as my nurse each night.

Patrice has been a wonderful part of my husband's recovery. She has been attentive, knowledgeable and dependable. Above all, she was able to assess a situation with him he coughed making his feeding tube curl up in his throat. He was unable to talk. Patrice called for assistance and identified the problem. She knows her patients and has a great way of communicating with them. I think she is wonderful...not only does she perform her duties well, but she doesn't have a problem following protocol if the situation presents itself.
