After my husband completed left shoulder surgery he was in PACU and Tricia was taking care of him. She immediately noticed a case of sleep apnea and became extremely concerned. Until I was able to go back and see my husband, she stayed at his side and tracked his sleeping and breathing and comforting him. She tried so hard to contact our doctors to insist for my husband to be admitted overnight. Unfortunately, our doctor who was called tried to send my husband home despite the concerns of the nurses. The situation got a bit heated and felt very tense. My husband was upset and the doctor left. Tricia was extremely professional and well put together even with what had happened, and continued to push for a different doctor. She was extremely comforting as my husband cried in pain and expedited our meds. She is a strong patient advocate and we were so lucky to have her. We were so happy to see that the DAISY Award was a way we could recognize her. She is a prime example of what a nurse should be!
