Patricia goes above and beyond with every patient and family she encounters. She takes the time to get to know each patient and family. Patricia is the first person to remember patient birthdays, graduations, and special events in their lives. Patricia really went out of her way to help a family in late November. One of the well-known Infusion patients needed his Remicade infusion the week of Thanksgiving. The Infusion Center had no opening that week, but Patricia was concerned this patient would get sick without his infusion. Patricia volunteered to come in on her day off to ensure the patient would get his infusion. I'm assuming that the GI service told the family what Patricia did for them because the mother arrived that day and was in tears because she was so grateful to Patricia for coming in on her day off. Patricia is truly the Extraordinary nurse and takes the values of Children's Hospital to heart each day she comes to work.
