Patricia Conforti served as my preceptor during my critical care orientation and as a result, I had the privilege to witness firsthand the compassionate and empathetic care that she delivers daily to her patients. Patricia is one of the most remarkable nurses that I have worked with, and she deserves to be recognized for constantly providing excellent care. Patricia is a wonderful example of a nurse attaining the professionalism and accountability goals we have set for ourselves as South Nassau. She advocates for her patients and makes sure that they receive only the best while under her care. Patricia not only anticipates the needs of her patients, but she goes above and beyond to help provide family-centered care.
Patricia always takes the extra time to coordinate care and communicate with families so that everyone involved feels comfortable and adequately informed about the care they or their loved one is receiving. During my time with her, there were multiple families that wrote in to compliment the care that they received from Patricia. Families frequently request for her to care for them again, as they form special relationships with her. I have also on many occasions seen Patricia going in to check on patients/families even when she no longer is their nurse. She does not hesitate to do whatever she can for her patients, and that level of compassion and selflessness is extremely commendable.
Patricia is not only highly regarded by her patients, but she serves as a role model on the unit and frequently precepts those new to critical care. Patricia is the true definition of a team player; she frequently offers help to other nurses, and never sits by while others are busy. Even when she is busy herself, Patricia will not hesitate to help a fellow coworker. Patricia is extremely knowledgeable and informed, especially regarding critical care. She is respected and held in high esteem by the physicians and other providers on the healthcare team. It is my honor to recommend Patricia for the DAISY award.
