One morning, Patricia Denton witnessed a terrible accident (moped vs car) where the victim was thrown into the middle of the highway. Once Patricia was able to pull off on the side of the road and get out of the car, she assisted another person on the scene with CPR until local EMS arrived and took over resuscitation. They both continued to assist with CPR, but unfortunately, after an extended resuscitation time, the victim did not survive despite all efforts.
Patricia took the time to nominate the other nurse for the DAISY Award and I feel someone needs to recognize Patricia for the same level of dedication. Patricia is always the first one to help someone in need whether at work or not and very rarely takes credit for anything. She is constantly putting others needs before her own and never expects gratitude or reward. Patricia Denton is the lifelong devoted nurse the DAISY Foundation and Vidant Medical Center seeks to recognize.
