I was admitted with stage 4 lung cancer, COPD, emphysema, and shortness of breath. By the next morning, I was literally hoping death would come upon me. By shortness of breath, I am saying I couldn't move without panting for breath. I was begging for anything to put me out of my misery. Although all of the nurses were there for me, Patricia Harning did not leave my side until she was sure I was OK. I no longer wanted to die; she was doing everything she could to make sure I felt comfortable. Even though my air intake showed I was getting enough air, I was gasping and very scared. Patricia stayed with me through it all, which eventually calmed me down and I don't know what I would have done if she had not been there with me.
