My son, J, was in the hospital on Wednesday morning-into late afternoon. He was diagnosed by the doctor as having a virus and was ready to discharge. However, he complained of pains in his back and had to urinate after having a full bag of fluids. His urine was almost brown. Although he was ready for discharge, Pat noticed the color of the urine and advised us to stay put while she got the doctor. It did end up that J had a kidney stone. However, if it had not been for Pat, we would have been sent home, only to return, with J in even more pain. Now he has meds, education-and we are hoping this passes soon. Pat had a great sense for care, compassion, and knowledge. I am so grateful for her expertise.
