Patty is the voice of the patient.
Patty received her Bachelor’s degree from Grand View University and is a board-certified medical-surgical nurse. Patty joined St. Anthony Regional Hospital in 1988 as a CNA. After her schooling was complete, Patty transitioned to RN in 1990. Over the years, Patty has worked in dialysis, same-day surgery, and The Birth Place and, currently works in the medical-surgical pediatrics unit as the charge nurse.
A portion of the nomination submission read: “Patty is the voice of the patient. She will listen and make recommendations for the appropriate level of care. Patty has a sincere approach to patient care, and I appreciate her kindness. I have spent more time in the hospital than most and Patty is a stand-out!”
***
Patty is an excellent nurse and team leader. She spent a lot of time assisting with discharge orders on a patient; over and above 'normal' support and collaboration. With many temporary nurses on the floor, she tirelessly ensures each one knows their responsibilities, and she helps those that are new to the system. This has a major impact on the quality of patient care and safety.
"It was extra special to present this award to Patty because she received two nominations, and she is much deserving of this award,” said the Interim Chief Nursing Officer at St. Anthony. “St. Anthony is proud to continually recognize our nursing staff for their dedicated, compassionate care through the DAISY Foundation.”
