Peggy took time out of her busy shift to teach me how to clean him, change his diaper, hold him, and swaddle him, all with a very warm demeanor and smile on her face.
My son was born 3 weeks early, and as a full-time student and worker, I did not get to prep as well as I would have liked. When my wife, son, and I arrived on the 4th floor of HPMC at the mom-baby unit, I felt lost. While my wife got some much-deserved rest, Peggy took time out of her busy shift to teach me how to clean him, change his diaper, hold him, and swaddle him, all with a very warm demeanor and smile on her face. She so reassured me that I actually felt confident handling him for the first time. The next day, she taught me about basic baby mannerisms, the benefits of breastfeeding, and other helpful tips, all with the same care, warmth, and patience she showed the day before. Every hospital needs more nurses like Peggy. She went above and beyond for my family.
