Petra Hager, or Pete as we call her, has been with Riley Hospital/ROC Surgery for an extremely long time. In the eight years I have known Pete, she has gone above and beyond in so many ways. Pete works primarily in the OR suites ensuring the anesthesiologists (basically all staff in the OR) have what they need to safely care for our 5,000+ patients annually. Pete educates residents and nurses to correctly set up anesthesia supplies and is very diligent with the residents on a daily basis to ensure they are using best practice as they learn to care for our patients.
Pete also has an extremely creative flair and loves to create the most extravagant parties for staff who may be celebrating something special like retirement or when they may be moving on to a new endeavor. She purchases supplies for these parties and gifts for the staff member out of her own pocket and makes staff feel so special. She is close to retirement, and although we will be happy for her when she retires, we will miss her extreme wealth of knowledge and her dedication to the safe care of our pediatric patient population.
