Phil is easily one of the smartest, most dependable, and most helpful nurses. His quiet demeanor and strong work ethic are so appreciated.
Philip is the quiet one in the department who always seems to end up with the sickest patients. Recently, he took on role of "CCU" RN on a very busy Monday. A cardiac arrest patient came in by ambulance. As the day went on this patient continued to deteriorate, the CT scan eventually showed the patient was having an aortic dissection. Mass Transfusion Protocol was promptly initiated, and the patient needed to be transferred to a larger hospital for surgical intervention. The quickest route to get this patient out of the ED was by ground transfer since the helicopters weren't flying. Phil, being the standup guy he is and a dedicated nurse, agreed to go ride along with the transfer team to the accepting hospital because of the patient's critical state and continuing to require blood product transfusions. The patient was safely delivered to the OR at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle and made it through surgery. If it were not for Phil's willingness to go above and beyond for this patient, I do not know if they would have made it to Swedish. Phil is easily one of the smartest, most dependable, and most helpful nurses. His quiet demeanor and strong work ethic are so appreciated.

Phillip provided excellent care to an extremely critical patient from start to finish, including becoming a member of her transport team to a high-level care facility! This patient was in the ED for many hours, starting as a code/ROSC, becoming a CCU patient, and needing a mass transfusion. Phillip was an amazing nurse throughout, and then stepped up when the transport team needed an RN to assist them, even though he was nearing the end of his 12-hour shift. Kudos to Phil!

Philip had a critical patient who came in post-resuscitation. He spent the entire day at the bedside with this patient, taking care of the extremely critical needs of this patient- MTP, intubation, etc. Philip always maintained a calm demeanor and kept the family up to date. When it came time for the patient to transfer to a facility in a different city, Philip went with the patient to ensure the continuity of care. On the day in particular, it was snowing during the patient's ground transfer. Philip is the backbone of the ER- always there when others need help and able to keep calm in the most stressful of situations.
