Pinder will acknowledge the parents as well. Making sure we also have a fine hospital stay/experience.
There is no better nurse in the entire world than Pinder at CHM Detroit. I know this because I am a medical mother of a child who has been in the hospital so, so, so, so, so many times (even in two states) that from all of our experience everywhere for 7 years, Pinder is the best nurse in the entire world. It's more than nursing with Pinder. She has perfected the art of nursing. She has so much compassion, patience, knowledge, drive, communication, commitment, empathy, respect, advocacy, and I can go on and on. She is a night nurse at Children’s, and she is an actual ninja. She has perfected her skills. That way, the children there actually get their rest, and they can recover faster. You will never hear her enter, do her things, or even leave. She pays attention to what makes noise, and she limits it.

At the start of her shift, she learns the patient very well. She communicates with us parents what she plans on doing during her shift, always telling us what exact medications she is giving, always making sure the doctors will correct any orders, and making sure very important time-sensitive medications are at the nurse's station on time. She always explains things and answers any questions you may have. She is so good with kids, the one of many that will actually make vitals fun. She is caring for the parents, too. Some nurses only speak to the kids when they enter the room, but Pinder will acknowledge the parents as well. Making sure we also have a fine hospital stay/experience. She makes sure the room is fully stocked and we already have the things we need before even needing them because she knew to bring them before we asked.

She also advocates for her patients so well when the time is needed to do so. Also, giving very good, useful advice. Her timing is impeccable when it comes to making sure something doesn’t beep or alarm. For example, she knows exactly when to be back to put a flush on an IV medication just as it starts to beep before it wakes us up or refills the feeding bag before the last drip enters the tubing. But she also knows what is and isn’t normal for her patients. I have never once had a bad experience with Pinder. She is truly a remarkable nurse and a remarkable human. I will always choose her over anyone to care for my son, and I know he says the same.
