Nurse Rachel Albano cared for me for two evening shifts after my spine surgery... During this time, I was in fairly severe pain, suffering from nausea, dizziness, anxiety, constipation & immobility all of which were affecting my inability to sleep and be comfortable. Nurse Rachel compassionately took a large amount of time with me to do everything I needed to slowly regain normal comfort. She did all this with total professionalism, a strong base of demonstrable medical knowledge, superb listening and response skills, a gentle manner and a funny, subtle sense of humor. Many of my issues were of the “embarrassing” type and Nurse Rachel made light of my inaccurate perceptions about decorum in post-op situations. She was extremely effective in reducing my anxiety as well as providing both medical & physical comfort that allowed me to relax and obtain wonderful, peaceful rest. Our conversations also gave me a strong sense of hope as she continually reinforced the ideas that I was doing well and healing as medically desired. Nurse Rachel is an outstanding young professional who holds herself to the highest standards of excellence and instills total confidence in the patients as they are being treated during a difficult and painful time in their medical journey.
