My father had gone to the emergency room and was admitted to Tradition for the third time in a month. The hospital staff were all wonderful, but I would especially like to single out Rakia Hamilton on the 4th floor.
On Sunday, the ambulance brought my father to the ER at about 11am; he was sent to the 4th floor at approximately 11pm that night. I had been there all day and wanted to make sure he was settled in before I left the hospital. When we went upstairs, Rakia was his nurse. She recognized my dad from previous stays there and noticed immediately he did not look right. Because of her actions, they called a Code Gray (a stroke alert).
The whole situation was difficult to watch, but I knew he was in good hands thanks to Rakia and the staff. I want to commend all the staff for all their hard work and efforts. I am especially grateful from the bottom of my heart to Rakia; she made me feel my father was in the best hands and I felt all was being done during this difficult time. I believe a bad situation could have been a lot worse if it were not for Rakia's actions and instincts.
