A patient's family member recognized Becky for the exceptional care she exhibited when taking care of her father before his death. The nomination read as follows: "During my father's recent hospitalization, I was faced with many decisions that you often dread having to make at the end of life. I was blessed that my father was assigned to Becky Huff that day. I am an only child and had no idea what to do or who to turn to, to help me with these decisions.

Becky compassionately yet truthfully took time not only as a nurse, but as a caring person and talked with me about my father's condition. She helped to get Palliative Care involved, and contacted physicians that helped to answer some questions.

You never want to think about times like this, but we all come to the point where we have to make decisions for our parents, brothers, sisters, spouses, and even children. I know that it was divine intervention that Becky was assigned to us that day. I can only hope that Becky will receive the honor and recognition that she deserves for the important part she played in my life and in the last days of my father's life to ensure he received appropriate care.
