Becky fought for us, held our hands, hugged us, and loved us through the nightmare we were experiencing.
The last few years for my daughter, S, have been rough, to say the least. When she found out, she was pregnant with her baby boy E, her entire life changed. E saved her life. When she was brought into Froedtert’s ER with pre term labor, we were desperate to do anything to save his life. We knew losing him, meant losing a piece of S forever. Our experience in the ER was incredibly stressful for various reasons. After a few hours, we were brought up to Labor and Delivery, which is where we met Becky.
We knew the outcome for baby E was not great. All of us were visibly stressed and distraught over what was happening and the unknown. Becky came right in and immediately tended to our every question, concern, fear, etc. She handled us so gently and with so much love. She was there with us every single step of the way. She fought for us, held our hands, hugged us, and loved us through the nightmare we were experiencing.
Becky was the brightest, and quite possibly the only light for us on our darkest day. While the majority of the staff remained professional and attentive, Becky maintained a level of humanity that was needed. She stayed in touch with her feelings and how this event would affect her if roles were reversed and it showed in how she cared for not only my daughter but our entire family.
At the time, we did not have the words to express how grateful we are to her. We are hoping that this nomination will help her to realize that our gratitude was not just in that moment. Every single time we think of our sweet baby E, our thoughts and appreciation for nurse Becky are not far behind. I honestly do not know of anyone more deserving than Becky. She is a part of our story forever.
