Quite honestly there are so many examples of how Rebecca made a difference in not only my mother's care but my own as well. From always having the time to answer my never ending questions to coming into mom's room repeatedly always with respect and kindness. She also patiently and compassionately set up my initial meeting with hospice care for my mom. As well as taking the time to show me the inpatient hospice rooms available to patients and families on the 4th floor. Always assuring me that I am "not alone" in this difficult journey.
Rebecca also kept her cool when mom suffered a setback with her breathing, calling mom's physician and phoning me at home to explain what was going on and what the next step in treatment would be. And,once again, just this evening she stepped away from a busy work desk to stand for over an hour at mom's bedside patiently feeding her supper when I was not up to the task. And finally, on saying my goodbyes to Rebecca, I received a hug and urging to call her anytime (upon moms discharge)I have questions or just need someone to talk with.
Extraordinary nurse indeed! This woman is a real gem. I hope Mercy Jefferson realizes this! And recognizes her for it.
