Beky threw this patient a birthday party with balloons, decorations, cake- the whole nine yards.
Rebecca "Beky" Getz, BSN, RN, CCRN, CN IV, is not only an advocate for her patients but the unit as a whole as well. She has worked on the HVICCU for over ten years and is currently a Clinical Ladder IV. Beky, is the head or chair of the professional unit council for the HVICCU. She oversees RN/MD-NP relations, quality improvement for patient outcomes, work/life balance, and many others. As a charge nurse, Beky is organized, direct, and helpful.
Recently, a patient in cardiogenic shock had been on the unit for months. This patient initially had hope and a positive attitude, despite being hooked up to invasive devices; then it seemed as if the patient suddenly gave up. Beky threw this patient a birthday party with balloons, decorations, cake- the whole nine yards. She went above and beyond to make this patient smile and have hope again.
