I just wanted to touch base with you to recognize the work of one of your employees, Regina Allan. She recently helped with the discharge coordination of one my patients. He had a recent (well publicized) amputation, and his discharge was challenging to say the least. Even when the patient was being stubborn and trying to refuse some of the postop therapies I had mandated, Regina worked tirelessly to make sure things were arranged in a way that ensured patient safety. The patient doesn't speak much English and lives in central Washington, so she had to coordinate various therapies and treatments from a distance and in multiple languages. She found one of the only rehab facilities in that region and made sure the patient was set up to receive care there, and (when he left that place AMA) she continued to try to arrange for various Outpatient therapies, again from a distance.
In short, Regina worked harder than anyone in this patient's discharge and deserves commendation for what she did. It is my understanding that you were told that I had some frustration with how the discharge process went for my patient, and that could not be further from the truth. In fact, I think Regina deserves special recognition for going above and beyond in the care of this high profile, difficult patient.
