Regina models clinical excellence and compassionate care. What does the average day look like for this nominee in her role? Staffing challenges, call backs from patients/families with "questions about their discharge", security reporting a body in the morgue > 3 days, ICU rounds, covering CM "nursing" reviews to ensure FH gets paid for services, problem solving with CM staff re: difficult discharge planning issues, working with the nursing supervisor re: transfers to WPMH, meeting with upset patient/families, facilitating contracts for services for indigent patients and extending those contracts when more IV antibiotics (etc.) are needed, serving as CM clinical expert in various system initiatives, CM education, CM staff support, cheerleading, navigating through Sunport and Cerner to locate information, thinking "outside of the box" to find solutions for patients/families, supporting other CM leaders when questions are asked, ensuring the "lost" visitor is safely taken to their destination, assisting VIPs with discharge plans, even when the patient is in North Carolina, coming early, staying late, exemplifying WP Pride in ALL that she does, providing "kudos" to others and on and on and on!
Regina has that very powerful quality of making a person feel "special and cared about" whether it is a patient, a family member, a co-worker, a professional colleague, and that's just at work. This extends into ALL of her relationships in the community as well.
Regina ALWAYS goes the extra mile to ensure that our patient/family's needs are met and issues are solved. Just yesterday it was the patient who insisted upon going home, even though a nursing home was recommended and when the call back came in early the next day from a frantic family, Regina was able to facilitate a placement which not only avoided a readmission, but also ensured a very thankful family.
Regina Beckman truly makes a difference to our life at WPMH and to the many patients who are served. She is truly extraordinary!
