Renee joined St. Joes following her retirement from 21 years of proudly serving all over the world in the United States Navy Nurse Corps. She found that the compassion, stewardship, justice and integrity she learned in her years of active duty military service fit perfectly with the core values of St. Joes.
Renee has a generous spirit and sense of caring for patients and co-workers alike. I have witnessed her reach out to more than a few patients that were angry and ready to lose control but through her compassion and skills as a mental health nurse, she was able to defuse their agitation by empowering the patient to use their spirituality and alternative coping skills to deal with their anger in a more constructive manner. With the same sense of caring I have seen her quietly reach out and provide assistance to struggling co-workers. She does not wait to be asked to help when busy, she just jumps right in.
Renee is also a valuable resource for the most current evidence based practices having completed an internship at St. Joes and graduating with a Masters Degree in Clinical Nurse Leadership which specializes in optimal patient outcomes and process improvements just over a year ago.
