I had noticed Rheanna Lumpert's composure and efficiency, but I really noticed how she interacted with my wife. As scary of a situation as it would be for anyone, being totally blind during it must have been absolutely terrifying. She supported her and described what was going on, all to try and ease her mind. She allowed me to watch the intubation since my wife wanted that. Once her medical duties were over, she consoled me in my emotional turmoil. Over the course of the next two nights, during the routine neuro exams, she was patient and kind when my wife had trouble coming out of the sedation she was under. She was on time with every medication administration and every test, explaining what she was doing to me to alleviate my obvious nerves. I sincerely felt like my wife was the only patient she had that night, even though I know she was far from it. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to her and how lucky I feel that she was the one in that place at that time. Thank you, Rheanna. I think you have truly found your calling.
