Rhonda Bentley went above and beyond for me and my family. My husband and I arrived at the Labor and Delivery unit for our scheduled c-section. While in pre-op it was noticed that my husband was much sicker than we thought; we thought he had a cold or the flu. He was rushed to the ER and Rhonda came in and told me to get dressed. She was taking me to my husband.
Throughout the next 12 hours, Rhonda was my support system. She traveled back and forth from Labor and Delivery to the ER just to make sure I was ok. She was honest about the possibilities but lovingly reminded me of what was important; my husband may not be with me when the baby is born but it's important he is there for the rest of her life. Rhonda sat with me so that I wouldn't be alone because I don't have any family here. She listened to me cry and hugged me.
Rhonda talked to the ER doctors and nurses and got them to give me information about the status of my husband faster and got me in to see him sooner. She was truly a rainbow on such a dark and scary day. What makes it more amazing is she didn't have to do any of it for me. She could have just dropped me off in the ER and it would have been ok, but she didn't. She went way above and beyond her job description and I will forever be grateful for everything he did that day.
We came back to Labor and Delivery a month later and delivered a healthy baby girl via c-section. My husband did get to be there thanks to the fast actions of Rhonda getting him to the ER and helping me stay calm.
