Richard Fitzgerald, RN was nominated for “attending to all needs” of a mental health patient who was suffering physical complications from cystic fibrosis.
In the nomination, Rick was praised for his medical expertise and compassion. “Rick was able to spend time with her to calm her down. He also constantly met with either me alone or with both to give status updates,” wrote the patient’s guardian. “I am forever grateful. Rick made this hospital visit a positive experience.”
Rick was additionally commended by the mother of a pediatric patient who required stitches for a laceration on his chin. She wrote, “Each time Rick stopped in, my son was his priority. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience; we were treated kindly and respectfully. Most importantly, my son was his priority. Thanks to Rick, for making our Emergency Department experience a pleasant one.”
