My brother was a patient in the CICU unit. He was an amputee and diabetic. He had a cardiac episode at his home and was finally revived and transported to MetroHealth. His heart issue was stabilized but too much time had passed and unfortunately he suffered irreversible brain damage.
As his next of kin, I had to make one of the hardest decisions in my life. I had to stop life support. I know my brother would have agreed with my decision but that didn't make it easier. He spent his last days in the CICU and Rob was his nurse and he also took care of me. Rob was an angel; he was so professional yet so compassionate. In my mind Rob was destined to be a nurse. I know I was blessed to have him take care of my brother.
Metro Health is very lucky to have someone like Rob. I will always remember this nurse and the care that was given to not only my brother but also to me. Rob helped me during a very difficult and heart breaking time. His compassion was a gift that I will always treasure and Rob will always have a special place in my heart.
