Rochelle is an amazing nurse with so much compassion. She demonstrates this compassion by going above and beyond every day.
Rochelle once visited a patient in rehab on Christmas Morning! She was an elderly woman who had no family and told Rochelle she wasn't looking forward to being in Rehab over the holidays. On Christmas Morning, Rochelle brought her pastries and coffee. Rochelle has two young boys of her own. Imagine leaving your own home on Christmas.
I personally love listening to her talk to her patients. Rochelle has this way of making people feel good. By the time her shift is over she has found either a connection with the patient somehow -they know a friend of a friends aunts cousins sister that just happens to be Rochelle's longtime neighbor, or she just knows how to makes them feel good and there is always laughter in her area.
Rochelle is Co-Chair of our Collaborative Care Council and she teaches our Joint Replacement class when our regular RN Maureen cannot come in. She is a DIABETES Champion as well as a MAGNET Champion. She is a Clinical Ladder 3. Rochelle has come in from home on a moment's notice to help out the unit. Her smile is contagious! 7 Tower is a better place because Rochelle works here!
A few years ago, she saved a life on the highway. A man lost his arm in an accident; Rochelle ran out of her car and put a tourniquet on (they found his limb) and he was rushed to a nearby hospital and lived because of that tourniquet.
