Recently I had the honor of witnessing a special and compassionate interaction between a nurse and a family member whose loved one had just passed away. I went in to speak with the grieving family to help them with mortuary planning. Rose followed me in to also support the family. The husband of the patient crossed the room to Rose with open arms, hugged her, and cried. They wept quietly together and then he spoke with heartfelt thanks in how special Rose has been to him, his family and his dying wife. He explained that Rose's compassionate attention to his wife has touched him deeply and he appreciated how well his wife was cared for in her last few days of life. He felt that because of Rose's exceptional attentiveness his wife passed on peacefully and without pain. Thank you Rose for your devoted and exceptional compassionate care for the sick and dying. You have made an incredible impression not only on me but most importantly to this family.
