I was notified by my Illinois Eye Center doctor to come to Proctor OR for emergency surgery on a spontaneous hemorrhage of my right lower eyelid. This hemorrhage had begun approximately 8 hours earlier. This was a very rare and scary experience when blood is dripping from one's eye. I was met by Posie who was very calm, professional and empathetic. I was never made to feel like a bother - it was as if they were expecting me. Her presence and warmth were reassuring. I was quickly taken to a room to prepare for surgery. She was there when I arrived and when I left, always calm, efficient, and knowledgeable. Her skill and expertise were well balanced by her caring and concern. She explained each step of the process, practicing our values and AIDET.
Posie is a role model for what every nurse should be and very deserving of the DAISY Award.
