My mom was admitted to the ICU. Rowendo was mom's nurse for 3 days. She did not have the ability to talk because of the bi-pap machine. But, Rowendo came to know her and anticipate her needs immediately. He knew when her pain meds would wear off, he knew when she had a BM and needed to be cleaned, he knew when she needed rest and quiet. I could see on his face the true caring and compassion he had for her. He also cared for us, mom's kids.
We have never seen mom unable to communicate and it was a shock. Rowendo's care and compassion and gentle guidance spilled over to me and my three brothers. He spoke to each one of us as we needed. He spoke in technical terms to those who could understand and spoke simply and clearly to those who needed time and explanation. He was a tireless angel - a blessing to my family. Although mom passed away the care that Rowendo gave her will be in our memories forever.
