Ms. Ruth's impact goes beyond caring for patients and helping our team. She has been instrumental in aligning us with the hospital's goal of zero harm. Her strong focus on safety has led to the creation of evidence-based policies for the care and prevention of skin injuries to guide nurses at the bedside, especially for preventing pressure injuries and reducing the risk of harm.

Ms. Ruth's enthusiasm shines in everything she does. She pioneered a Wound Care & Ostomy Champion course, enriching our knowledge as nurse clinicians and bedside nurses. She earned the National Patient Safety Award for this initiative. She has also coordinated and collaborated on multiple wound care workshops with other experts. This has made her an invaluable mentor and teacher, creating an environment of learning and collaboration. She has a unique talent for motivating and encouraging us to strive for excellence in the prevention of skin injury and wound care. Her dedication to professional growth is evident in her recent achievement of becoming the first Advanced Practitioner in the region for Wound Care.

Ms Ruth is known to stay behind to accommodate units that work business hours to give them a full educational in-service and support. She is humble and well-loved by her patients, who all comment on her ability to explain wound care in layman's terms and fully encourage family members to get involved with wound and patient care.
