Sade does not merely do the bare minimum or the job overall, but goes above and beyond by taking initiative, showing empathy, positivity, and clear intelligence in her profession.
Sade is a pure breath of fresh air in what could otherwise be a depressing and repressive place. Sade has a friendly disposition and appears to want to be at work. She went above and beyond any staff that we experience here. Small, good bedside manner is not innate to all - but she went beyond that with all she did. Sade was efficient and observant. She ensured me, as a visitor, was settled. She took excellent care of my mom. Sade paid attention to detail with cleanliness inside the ICU room, as well as with the items (ex., linens) in the room. She made sure to practice good habits of ensuring patient info each time, with medication, and explaining to the patient. Sade answered any questions with a smile and UNHURRIED.
While it was apparent she was plenty busy, she never once made us feel rushed or less important. Sade paid close attention even when not in the patient room. She listened and would jump up to fix/help/correct things as needed even when at the desk - one small example was even jumping up to change a pillowcase. When she overheard another staff member commenting about moving the pillow from the floor onto the bed. She knew that a pillow from the floor should not go back to the patient without a clean pillowcase. From outside the patient room and at her computer, she took the initiative to get up and correct/handle the "small" issue she noticed. Patient cleanliness and overall good disposition should be the norm for all staff, but these days, it is small, and Sade has all of that, plus so much more, in her practice as a nurse.
Sade does not merely do the bare minimum or the job overall, but goes above and beyond by taking initiative, showing empathy, positivity, and clear intelligence in her profession. Sade was one of the few we encountered who also maintained good habits not only for patient safety, cleanliness, and well-being but her own. She continuously washed her hands (not just sanitizer), wore gloves when performing tasks, double-checking medication amounts and patient info, etc. Sade immediately took notice of changes with the patient and took the initiative to contact the doctors when she felt there may need to be a change in medication dosage, etc. Even though it was seemingly small, most would have blindly just done as instructed. Sade put the specific needs of my mom and her current/at times - circumstances above all else and used her knowledge and voice to advocate for her.
I pray every nurse would take even just a piece of guidance from her and implement it into their own daily care for patients. Sade met and exceeded what a good caregiver should be and embody. Sade is exceptional combining a bright personality with intellectual patient focused care, and intelligence. Very thankful for her.
