Sage gives amazing care to each patient she touches and advocates for their care to be perfect.
This nurse has worked at Children's for 20 years, for the last seven of those years this nurse has been Occasional status. Even as an occasional nurse, when she is here, she gives her all and makes sure our families and patients feel supported. When she meets a family, she spends time getting to know them and what needs they may have.
Outside of work, this nurse is part of a huge network of moms who donate items to foster families or just a family in need. Through that network, she will help families here who do not have supplies for their babies. She has brought in clothes and toys and put families in touch with resources outside the hospital to help with getting more supplies or support that they may need. When this nurse is at work, she will volunteer to take care of the harder patient assignments so full-time staff can have a break.
She gives amazing care to each patient she touches and advocates for their care to be perfect. We had a patient whom this nurse was taking care of and he had to go down for a procedure. When the patient was being wheeled down the hall in his bed this nurse had him say "Hey" in a pageant-type voice because he was unable to use his arms to do the pageant wave as he passed by the nurses’ station.
This is our nurse. She treats the patients like family and brings smiles to their faces, she personalizes their care. She is a true DAISY Nurse because of her longevity of compassion for the medically fragile patients in our system as well as in the community.
