I believe that this kind gesture will be enormously helpful to the patient's healing and success outside of the hospital.
Over a very busy weekend EMCU received a patient with an extremely severe case of bilateral leg cellulitis. The patient had very limited resources and was unable to care for his wounds. His Wounds became so swollen and infected that the patient was unable to remove his shoes. His shoes were so soiled and damaged that they needed to be thrown away. Sam was the charge nurse for the weekend and helped care for the patient. On Monday morning Sam came to the hospital to deliver 2 new pairs of shoes in the patients size and 24 pairs of socks. Sam did this on his own time and without request from anyone. I believe that this kind gesture will be enormously helpful to the patient's healing and success outside of the hospital. When the patient received the shoes and socks he was brought to tears with gratitude. Thank you so much Sam! Your care and kindness will not go unnoticed!
