My son was seen in the ER at CRMC and admitted to the pediatric unit in the early morning hours. Samantha came on as the day shift nurse and she was amazing from the moment she walked into my son's room.
She made it a point to talk about something relatable, like PJ Masks or superheroes, every time she came into the room. She exudes what a children's nurse should be, loving, patient, kind, and not afraid to actually treat him like she'd known him, and me, like long time pals.
Matter of fact, my son was in due to complications from his tonsillectomy and at lunch, he REALLY wanted mac n cheese. The cafeteria wasn't serving any that day so that sweet nurse took it upon herself to go to the lower floor to see if there was any for sale in the gift shop. Within 10 minutes she had it to my baby's room and he was so excited to have the "mac n cheese just like the mercials!" (commercials) When we or our loved ones are in need, these "small" acts of kindness are, in fact, momentous. My son was never anything less than truly loved by her and I believe that deserves recognition. At one point, I was running on about 2 hours of sleep and asked if there was coffee available, she said sure! And reappeared with a giant cup of fantastic coffee.
She is the epitome of what a nurse should be.
Thank you, Samantha, for loving my baby like you would your own while caring for him.
