Sam, you exemplify what it is to be a compassionate, kind and empathetic RN. You are constantly put in difficult situations within the department. You always handle them with such grace and shine through during taxing moments.
A specific example of this was recently a patient who was DNR/DNI was coming to the end of his life. He ended up passing away during shift change without family present. You specifically, along with your team, made sure he did not do this alone. You were able to say a prayer for him and handle the post-mortem care wonderfully.
I was able to speak with his daughter and she was so complimentary of the care he received when she was present. She wanted to thank you for being there for him when she was unable to. You are a great nurse and are very appreciated within the department.
