I believe Sam was my nurse for a reason, and if I could choose it would be her repeatedly.
I'd like to thank my nurse and share my story of why this nurse is so special. I would like to share how Sam, as everyone affectionately calls her, saved my life.
I gave birth to twins. Unfortunately, my twins were born at 33 weeks due to high blood pressure issues. I received a C-section. Once I was placed on the mother baby floor, that Tuesday, I had Sam as a nurse. She was pretty awesome, and I had plans on going home the next day or so Unfortunately, due to my blood pressure, I wasn’t able to go home. They gave me medicine and even put me on a magnesium drip and nothing worked; all of this was over Friday. Sam was my nurse again, and she was concerned about why I was still in the hospital. She started to notice nothing was working as far as the medication was concerned. My blood pressure was in the 200/100 club. She constantly reached out to the higher-ups. She constantly checked on me and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. She reached out to her team on ICU and they quickly came down to check me out. After review, it turns out that I had excessive fluid on me, so much so that the blood pressure medication didn’t work. I was moved to ICU, and my health improved drastically.
I honestly believe she saved my life. Without her I probably wouldn’t have made it. I want to thank Sam so much for all her hard work. Thank her for helping me realize lifestyle changes are what I needed. I believe Sam was my nurse for a reason, and if I could choose it would be her repeatedly.
