In asking myself, what makes a great nurse, I envisioned many attributes that a spectacular nurse carries. A nurse is caring, kind, and patient. Nurses have a sense of dignity with them that hold us together in times of need. They are brilliant in their education and can calm us with a touch. They sacrifice days off and time with family just to sit and hold a stranger's hand. They protect and serve us in ways, many aren't even aware of. Samantha Fentress embodies these traits and more. She is a nurse that goes above and beyond her call to share in the duty of others. Sam has continually advocated for her patients, all while being so compassionate and treating each patient like they were her own. I have worked alongside her some time now and am continually impressed with her ability to be such a great nurse. It is awe inspiring to watch her care for her patients and run an immensely busy PACU, all the while carrying the core values this institution holds dear. She evokes a sense of passion for the craft and motivates others to follow in her footsteps. I believe her to be one of the best nurses that I have ever worked with.
