Sam is a wonderful co-worker to work with. She is always in a positive mood, with a bright smile on her face. She always has a joke or comment to lift you up when you are down. Sam is also an amazing nurse to our patients, always going the extra mile.

An example that happened recently was a patient who was passing on our unit. It was night shift and Sam had gone into his room to reposition him. His wife had asked if it were possible to make some room for her. The patient’s wife went on to explain that her husband was a resident of a serenity unit and she hadn’t lain next to him in a long time. Sam then made room for her and she was able to sleep with him that night. On morning rounds Sam found them both sleeping with their heads touching. Sam was able to give her patient’s wife something that she cherished and could have forever.
This was just one example of the compassion and love she shows towards everyone she encounters.
